"The" Chair Lift

Okay, so today was a big day for the Hanson Family. Calvin was having his final private lesson and he was heading to the chair lift. Chris and I were so excited. Calvin was too, however, a bit nervous. He has consistantly had the same instructor, John, and he to was ready to take Cal up. They go up. Getting on the chair lift was great. That is half the scary part if you ask me! They went up, came down all was well, as expected we got the thumbs up! Yeah, we are happy! Chris is camera happy and takes some fabulous pictures. We wait another 20 minutes to see the same thumbs up. About 30 minutes later we see them again. I think, hmmm Calvin looks a little more cautious than he did last time. Mothers intuition. John came up and proceeded to tell us that they were skiing down the Ridge and he turned to see Calvin and no Calvin. He treked back up and Calvin had gone down a cliff. Yes, a cliff. Skis went everywhere. One even landed in a creek. John had to call Ski Patrol for help getting everything back together. He had said Calvin kept telling him, "You have to get that ski, my Dad paid a lot of money for those." Needless to say, Calvin continued on. It didn't stop him. He literally was exhausted, though. We didn't even make it 5 miles off the Ridge and he was out cold. Calvin LOVED his new skis. Now John says--time to get poles-- this kid is ready! When Cal and I got home I asked him if he was scared and he said yes. "Are you going to do it again?" "Next Saturday!" Yes, he will be there from 9 to 3 next Saturday. I will add todays pictures tomorrow. I'll keep you posted, keep reading!

Chris vs. Calvin

Okay, so since the day I had my kid everybody has told me over and over how much he looks like his Dad. Okay, so he does. I've never really seen it, but whatever. I took this picture of Chris on Christmas and OH MY GOSH-- He looks just like Cal here!! Weird!!

Calvin Learned How To Ski!!

Ski school is almost starting!! Calvin is scared and nervous which makes for CRANKY!!
Walking on skis is weird!!

Listening and learning-- and a lot nervous!

Waiting his turn.

Calvin's instructor told us to go chill and have a beer--Okay, so we did! Beer is way to expensive up there-- 28 bucks for 2 pitchers!! But we did it!

First time off the rope tow--Proud kid!

Downhill~FINALLY!!

It just clicked!

Calvin's very proud Mommy & Daddy!! Love that kid!

Cute, huh?!

Beautiful Mission Ridge. I can't believe it's only 12 miles away!! We are lucky!!

After a hard day skiing, this is what a very proud boy looks like.

This is weird scary Chris in his ski mask from when he skiied 20 years ago. He looks scary~but what ever works. There was a blizzard that day.
